Futon Slipcovers - Why You Should Consider
Having Them
Futon slipcovers are an excellent way of protecting your
futon, while at the same time adding some pizzazz to any room
decor. These slipcovers give you the opportunity to makeover
any room in your home without having to go out and buy new
furniture or a new futon.
Keeping your futon and your futon slipcover looking their
best requires a little bit of care. Here are some things you
can do to keep your cover looking new for years to come.
1. Cleaning - Be sure to purchase a futon slipcover that is
machine washable. Then, read the label for cleaning care tips.
After washing, don't put your cover in the clothes dryer on
high heat. It will shrink your cover and ruin it.
If you are cleaning a leather slipcover, then take the time
to clean it properly by having it professionally done. Leather
is expensive and you want to have it cleaned right.
2. Sunlight - Avoid setting your futon near windows with
lots of sunlight directly shining in on your futon. It can
easily fade your slipcover in a matter of weeks. I've had it
happen firsthand in the past.
3. Other Tips - Be sure to turn your futon mattress over
once every 3-6 months. Also, turn it end for end as well. This
gives your mattress a much longer life.
You should also fluff the mattress on occasion and let the
air circulate through it. Again, it gives your futon extra
life.
You will find futon slipcovers available in all types of
materials. Some of the most popular styles include denim,
cotton, leather and linen. If you have children at home you may
want to stay with cotton or denim. It lasts longer and is much
easier to clean. Spills and accidents tend to happen with the
kids at home.
If you are looking for a way to liven up your futon and your
room in general, a futon slipcover is your answer. You can
decorate in a pattern for every season of the year if you wish.
The choices are virtually endless.
